SB Connect Winter 2016

Lanark lodge art on show

A group of artists from Lanark Lodge, the Council’s day support services for people with a learning disability in Duns, were given the opportunity to showcase their talents recently at an exhibition for the Association of Directors of Social Work (ADSW) annual conference at Crieff Hydro.

They had been invited to take part in the exhibition by Andrew Lowe, Director of Social Work, who has just taken over as President of ADSW for the coming year.

Steven Bystry, Shaun Carnegie, John Hope, Tom Kennedy, Jimmy Scott, Jamie Thomson and Kenneth Wilson each selected a piece of work to send to Crieff that provided a true sense of their practice as a visual artist.

John, Tom, Jimmy and Kenneth each exhibited a canvas, while Steven chose to display his brightly decorated pen-on-fabric T-shirt. Also on show were Jamie’s ‘Kilt Poem No. 2’ and ‘Oor Chair’, a wood with paper collage created collaboratively by the group using reclaimed wood. Shaun’s choice was his mixed media sculpture, ‘Hand’, which he had based on the theme of balloons.
