SB Connect Winter 2016

Going global

First-year pupils at Earlston High School have been working on a project incorporating Curriculum for Excellence based on education around the world.

They have been looking at children from different countries and how lack of education affected them.

As part of the project, they made a visual statement of freedom of education in the form of a large globe.

The pupils filled rubber gloves with sawdust then covered them in plaster of Paris and decorated them. The hands were then stuck on the globe and flags were attached to the top with some of the school’s ethos words, such as excellence and caring.

The globe now stands in the hub area outside the school hall for everyone to admire.
