Keeper's Lodge restored

The former Keeper’s Lodge in Shedden Park, Kelso, has been given a new lease of life.

A public consultation was undertaken by Future Kelso, which highlighted that the community wanted to see the building saved and put to an alternative use.

The B-listed building had been on the Historic Scotland ‘buildings at risk’ register for a number of years, but has now been renovated as part of the Council’s public convenience programme administered by the Council’s Environment and Infrastructure department.

As well as incorporating public conveniences, there is an internal area available for use by the local sports clubs under the banner of Sports Kelso.

The project design and contract management was undertaken by the Council’s in-house Architects section in close conjunction with the Heritage and Conservation Officer.

External consultants Thompson Gray (quantity surveyor), McKay & Partners (structural engineer), and GMO Consultancy Services (health and safety) were all part of the design team, with Rodger (Builders) Ltd undertaking the construction work.
