SB Connect Winter 2016

Paxton is champion of them all

Paxton residents had cause for celebration when their village was named ‘Champion of Champions’ in this year’s Scottish Borders Floral Gateway competition.

A total of 27 towns and villages entered – including new entries from Ayton, Gordon, Ancrum, Ettrickbridge and Westruther.

The competition had fivecategories; Champion of Champions, Town, Large Village, Small Village and Wee Village.

Each entry was assessed based on the quality of the floral displays, the standard of cleanliness in the town or village, and the community involvement from individuals, organisations and schools.

Parks Manager Jason Hedley said: “The judges have been impressed by the colour and quality of displays, which shows the dedication, hard work and commitment of the communities who took part, and they should be very proud of their efforts.”
