SB Connect Winter 2016

Second coaching conference planned

Former Scotland coach Craig Brown was one of the keynote speakers at this year’s conference

The event attracted more than 150 sports coaches from all over the Borders and across Scotland, keen to learn from some of the best sports coaches in the world.

Next year’s event will impress once again with two exciting guests already lined up.

Keynote speaker Watt Nicholl is one of the top motivational speakers in the world, exciting people with the realisation that they can shake off mediocrity and live up to their potential. Watt has worked with some of the most famous sportspeople in the world including David Beckham and Wayne Rooney.

Tosh Farrell is a coach for English football club Everton. He is lauded by many as the best youth coach in the country and frequently holds conferences and open days for children. He is responsible for partnerships with Everton FC America and the Ontario Soccer Association. The ‘Everton Way’ is also a brainchild of his and is the first training programme readily available on the internet. Simon Clifford, founder of Brazilian Futebol de Salão schools in England, described him as “light years ahead of anyone else”.

The conference format will be similar to this year’s event with two keynote speakers in the morning followed by workshops with guest coaches in the afternoon. Workshops are expected to cover athletics, badminton, cricket, cycling, football, hockey, swimming and tennis.
