SB Connect Winter 2016

Coping in an emergency

A team of inspectors recently visited the Council to check its Business Continuity Management System and gave it a clean bill of health.

Business Continuity is about ensuring that services can be brought back up and running as soon as possible following a major disruption.

This could be anything from a fire in one of our buildings to high levels of staff absence through illness, such as flu.

All departments prepare for these possible problems by looking at what services they must continue to deliver and then preparing detailed plans to aid recovery of these services.

The Business Continuity department monitors these plans to ensure that they are effective and that improvements are made when necessary.

Continuing assessments are planned over the next three years, including a major audit in August 2011.
